Midland, ON This afternoon, The Villa Retirement Lodge community was joined by Mayor Stewart Strathearn, MP Adam Chambers, and members of three generations of the Jarlette family to celebrate the groundbreaking of the redevelopment project at 658 King Street. This project follows the redevelopment of The Villa Care Centre, a co-located long-term care community, which formally opened earlier this year.

Together, these projects further a vision of a campus of care for seniors from Midland and its surrounding communities.

Once completed, residents from the current retirement lodge at 689 Yonge Street will enjoy spacious and modern accommodations and daily services tailored to their unique interests and needs. It will become a home of 154 suites for senior living, responding to a shortage of housing in the broader Midland community.

Jarlette Health Services began its journey in senior living in Midland, Ontario in 1970, with The Villa Care Centre (long-term care community). This next chapter in the organizations journey the redevelopment of The Villa Retirement Lodge reaffirms Jarlette Health Services commitment to the Town of Midland and its surrounding communities.

Renee Pauze, the interim general manager of The Villa Retirement Lodge, said, We could not begin this chapter without the support of the people of Midland, its municipal government, and everyone who calls The Villa Retirement Lodge their home. We also thank our dedicated team of professionals who care for and nurture our residents.

The redevelopment project will provide a major infusion of energy into Midland in the way of direct investment, job creation, and tax revenues to the municipal government.

The five storey community, with a footprint of about 138,000 square feet, will offer residents high-quality and senior-focused services, including: support in daily tasks and medication support, excellent dining, activity and fitness areas, a library and games room, lounges on each floor as well as laundry facilities, private patios and balconies, a spa and access to a theatre and hair salon and cafe, among many others. Most importantly, the community will be a safe, nurturing and comfortable environment for residents and a place they will be proud to have their family and friends visit to enjoy the hospitality.

The campus of care also includes the Centre of Excellence, situated at The Villa Care Centre, which promises to further elevate the level of care for residents by attracting partnerships with seniors-focused practitioners and services.

Construction is scheduled to begin this fall and be completed in early 2025.

The Villa Retirement Lodge is hiring additional team members, on a part-time and full-time basis, to augment our dedicated team. Interested individuals are invited to visit www.jarlette.com for more information about roles at this home, as well as others in the area.
