Public Statement
On Mandatory Vaccination of Staff, Volunteers, Third Party Personnel and Students
The health, safety and comfort of our Residents are the primary concern of Jarlette Health Services, each and every day. We have always implemented proactive measures to protect them throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, often ahead of government policy.
Jarlette Health Services has recently implemented the policy that all Team Members, Students, Agency Staff and Volunteers within our organization must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and able to provide proof of their vaccination or medical exemption by October 12, 2021, or they will be placed on unpaid leave.
Our trusted Team Members, Students, Agency Staff and Volunteers afford our Residents an exceptional level of care and quality of life. It is important, therefore, that they not put our Residents at higher risk of exposure to COVID-19, and that this important line of defense against the virus remains strong.
This policy will help to reduce the need for isolation and disruption of daily activities that result from outbreak restrictions. It also protects ongoing access to visits from family members, which are critical to the well-being of all those in our care for whom outbreak restrictions have been difficult.
Vaccinations are safe, highly effective and significantly reduce the risk of serious illness and hospitalization. However, evidence shows that several months after receiving two COVID-19 vaccine doses the immune response in Residents who live in long-term care homes is significantly reduced compared to the general population.
We value open and transparent communication with all our Residents, Families, Team Members, Students and Volunteers. We are deeply appreciative of the commitment they have consistently shown to the care and health of our Residents throughout this pandemic.
