9th annual “Making a Difference Awards”

Honouring Those Who Live and Work With Us Who Continually put Others First

Jarlette Health Services together with Sliver Fox Pharmacy held their 9th annual “Making a Difference Awards” Ceremonies. These awards honour residents of Jarlette Health Services’ 14 Long Term Care and 6 Retirement Lodges for their remarkable accomplishments, outstanding contributions to society to their community and/or their home or lodge.

Twenty recipients were honoured this year across the province.

Gala Lunches were held at four of Jarlette’s homes and lodges. Leacock Care Centre in Orillia, Avalon Care Centre, Meadow Park in London and Elizabeth Centre were hosts to the award recipients, their families and friends. 

These celebrations provided an excellent opportunity to share the lifetime accomplishments and contributions of each person living in Jarlette homes and lodges. Recipients were also presented with a framed certificate and pin to commemorate their achievements along with a choice of a donation made in their name to a charity of their choice, or a park bench donated to their home or lodge with a commemorative plaque. In addition, each of the homes and lodges will host their very own celebration.

Roberta Jarlette Making a Difference Award - Nominees

This year we also recognize staff who are exemplary employees working in our long term care homes and retirement lodges. To qualify they must work in the departments of nursing, wellness, recreation, dietary, housekeeping or laundry. The nominees wholly demonstrate the Jarlette Health Services values which are:

TO MAKE AN OUTSTANDING DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS

One nominee from each of our long-term care homes and one from our retirement lodges will be selected by a committee in the coming months and announced at the end of the year. For example the selection committee will evaluate:

1. How the employees are champions of seniors’ services;
2. How they inspire and keep positive relationships with fellow staff members;
3. How their passion for making connections with the residents has benefited the homes in which they work.
