Resident Council Elections - A Tight Race to the Finish!

The Villa’s Resident Council held their elections for positions of President and Vice-President on January 31st

Ruth McCullough, former Council President, will be serving a second term and ran without any opposition.

Our new Vice-President, Bob McKiernan, will be serving for the first time, and had four other contenders running against him for the position. It was a tight race with only seven votes separating the winner from second place.

Fifty residents came down to vote, nearly half the Villa’s resident population. Candidates for Vice-President individually ran their own campaigns, with the assistance of the Programs Department staff. Residents came up with their own campaign slogans and handed out flyers during meal times to get their names out there. This is the first time that residents organized campaigns for Residents’ Council elections and the biggest voter turnout we have ever had.

Way to go and congratulations to the winners!
