Networking Seniors Services in the Orangeville Area

Avalon Care Centre-Orangeville, Long Term Care

On March 7th, 2018, in recognition of "National Be Heard Day", Avalon Care Centre hosted their 2nd Annual Expo for the community, families, residents and staff to share various Seniors Services offered in the Orangeville and surrounding area.

Over 20 vendors attended the event including Mobility vendors, CAMH, Comfort Keepers and more. The Alzheimer Society Dufferin offered a "Virtual Dementia Tour" which is designed to help identify and understand behaviours and needs of people living with dementia. Keynote Speaker, Jennifer McCallum spoke about the "Aging Well In Dufferin" program that focuses on the 1) prevention of elder abuse, 2) falls prevention and 3) staying connected for seniors and aging well in Dufferin.  Avalon Family Council assisted in making free floats for all. Several door prizes and give aways were donated on behalf of Dementiability Enterprises Inc.

In addition to sharing local Seniors care services, the Expo highlighted the Better Seniors Care Campaign Through the Ontario Long Term Care Association and promote the important work they are doing to raise awareness about the need for funding in Long Term Care.
