Residents Receive Fidget Blanket Donation

The Windermere Women's Institute Provide Handmade Blankets

Muskoka Landing Care Centre - Huntsville, Ontario

Barbara Baldwin and Marg Bonisteel from The Windermere Women's Institute proudly donated 9 handmade fidget blankets to the residents of Muskoka Landing. Members and guests of the organization donated many assorted fabrics and fidget items, and spent many hours designing and sewing the blankets.

The purpose of the lap blankets is to help sooth those experiencing agitation, provide an outlet for sensory stimulation,  they can assist with fine motor skills, and they provide an activity for the user to participate in. The blankets are made with various fabrics and textures, and are decorated with items that can be manipulated by the user such as zippers, pockets, velcro, lace, buttons, etc.

Muskoka Landing is very appreciative and grateful for this donation and several of the blankets have already been distributed to residents that would benefit from this type of intervention!
