Meals From Around The World

Residents enjoy meals with a cultural theme.

Meadow Park London- London, Ontario

Meadow Park Residents have been enjoying culturally diverse foods each month with a themed meal. Each month a Country is chosen to be focused on. So far this year we have enjoyed meals from Scotland, Korea, Ireland, Italy and Mexico. Resident have shared what Countries they want us to focus on when we discussed it at Resident Council. Meadow Parkís own Food Service Manager has created the menu and cooks all the meals. This event has about 12 residents each time. This makes this event a more conversational, family cooked meal as the tables are together. Along with this meal the recreation staff try to incorporate a themed fun day. This event changes each month and it tries to include a physical and cognitive component.

On a larger scale, the Food Service department does whole home meals. These meals are themed based on the month. Special events such as Shove Tuesday, Motherís Day, Chinese New Year and Easter are a few that have been done this year and they continue throughout the calendar year.

The most favourite time for Meadow Park Residents is BBQ season. They enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs for several events and it reminds them of home. They get to see the staff working away at the BBQ and plating up a hot hamburger with potato or macaroni salad. Delicious!
