Keeping A Beat

Residents of Meadow Park are caught jamming in the Wildwood Activity Room

Meadow Park Long Term Care Home- London, Ontario

Here at Meadow Park we encourage residents to continue with their leisure interests .  We have several residents who have continued to knit, sew, cross stitch, draw, watercolour paint, woodwork, play instrumental spoons, piano, ukulele, electric keyboard and more.  We feel it is important because “Participating in leisure and recreation activities can help you better manage stress and reduce depression. Leisure provides you the chance to find balance in your life; it also puts you in control of how you're spending your time, which is an important consideration because you may feel overwhelmed by obligations” (1)

Our newest conception was our Meadow Park Band.  Still in its infancy two of our residents get together to “jam”.  They enjoy each other’s company as they get together to play each afternoon.  They play a variety of songs and the residents enjoy listening to them.
