Celebrating The Future Of Seniors' Care

Meadow Park Placement Student, Rachel Corr, Graduates With Flying Colours!

Meadow Park London Long Term Care Home - London, ON.

Meadow Park London is thrilled to take a moment to recognize the outstanding efforts of their recent Placement Student, Rachel Corr! Rachel, who worked within the Home from September 2018 to April 2019 has since graduated from her 4th year Bachelor of Social Work Program at King's University College. On June 19th 2019, Rachel received the prestigious "Susan O'Neil Award" after being nominated by Meadow Park London for excellence in seniors' care. This honor is awarded annually to a graduating student who has been nominated by their community mentor for demonstrating strong qualities of leadership and a commitment to future professional excellence. In addition to this wonderful acknowledgement, Rachel was also presented with a $1,000.00 bursary to help support her future endeavors. Rachel's flexibility, open-mindedness and ability to multi-task made her an asset at Meadow Park from the very beginning. Working with Residents exhibiting aggressive or challenging behaviors, Rachel was patient and compassionate, while making an effort to understand the meaning behind the behavior and challenging herself on how to find a solution. As time progressed, Rachel initiated a Spousal Support Group at the Home. The group took place over a 6-week period, with the goal to help individuals adjust to living with a spouse in Long Term Care and to help them effectively navigate challenges associated with living apart. Those participants who chose to attend were able to connect with others in a similar situation. Through-out the process, Rachel also provided them with tools, advice and community resources that would provide extra support as they needed it. With increased confidence and growth evident, Rachel became increasingly independent and an invaluable member of the Meadow Park Team. She exemplifies respect for human diversity and honors Residentsí personal beliefs. Her academic performance has now led her to complete her Masters of Social Work at the University of Windsor. We wish Rachel all the best!
