Residents Get Back to Nature

Meadow Park - London, Long-Term Care

Meadow Park is very lucky to have a beautiful backyard that backs onto a forest area that includes Thompson Pond. In fact, the backdrop of this amazing view was the inspiration of the residents to name their new home area "Wildwood".

Residents are always excited to see what type of wildlife will come up to the building to be seen. We share our home's property with deer, wild turkeys, red fox, Canadian geese and their goslings as well as species of unique birds.

It only made sense to have an activity program about birds of prey so that residents could learn about these amazing creatures. The afternoon was filled with information and education on birds such as the juvenile bald eagle and the harris hawk.

Residents, families and staff enjoyed learning about these birds and what is entailed in caring for one. Some residents were even invited to experience the birds one-to-one! M.E Greason excitedly said, "“I’ve never seen a bald eagle up close.  I can’t believe he let me hold it.”
