Remembrance Day Service

Meadow Park - Chatham, Long-Term Care

Meadow Park Chatham's annual Remembrance Day Service is an event that has been taking place for over Twenty-Five years! The majority of those years we've had the assistance of Merlin Lodge to create a meaningful and memorable service for our residents.

"It's an honour to take part in this service. My father would have been very proud of me if he were here to see me do this today," B. Melvin, resident at Meadow Park.

The day was marked with tributes and remembrance of the Veterans who served and contributed to the freedom of our country included a special presentation of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #425 of Merlin, and the Ontario March of the Colours.

The addition of music is always appreciated as it takes the service to the next level for those who are attending. Soloist and Activity Aide, Amelia Livingstone volunteered her time to come in and sing for the residents. She performed "How Great Thou Art" and "Someday" (from the soundtrack to the Disney movie The Hundback of Notre Dame) during the service. The lyrics of "Someday" rang very true and brought great meaning of peace for the world we live in.

"When we are wiser, when the world's older, when we have learned,
I pray someday we may yet to live to 'live and let live'.
Life will be fairer, need will be rarer, greed will not pay.
Godspeed this bright milllennium on its way.
Let it come. Someday"
