Fundraising: As Easy as Pie?

On June 10th The Avalon Care Centre held a "Pie-In-The-Face" fundraising event for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. June is not only Seniors Month - it is also Stroke month and together we can raise awareness and support of the heart disease and stroke as well as their contributing factors affecting the health of fellow Canadians. Staff paid $1 a vote for the top 2 managers to get a tasty home-made pie in the face!  Residents spent the morning making banana and coconut cream pies for this event.

Avalon Care Centre raised a total of $331 - talk about a pie in the sky! Thank you to everyone for their support!

Many residents, staff and family members gathered in the courtyard to watch the entertainment. The 2 staff that raised the most money had the honours of throwing pie in the managers' faces! Although, when you're faced with the choices of banana or coconut cream - who wouldn't want to be in the hot seat?

Lee Turley (Administrator) and Dawn Rollins (Resident and Family Services Coordinator) were the lucky managers with the most votes! Whether on the giving or receiving end of a "Pie-In-The-Face" fundraising event, this certainly is a sweet way to raise money to support Heart & Stroke research and development. An event as easy as pie!
