Muskoka Landing in Huntsville, has been awarded a 3 year accreditation from CARF International for their excellence in person-centered care - CONGRATULATIONS!

CARF International is a non-profit accreditor of health and human services. Its goal is to ensure that persons served remain at the center of the service delivery process. Accreditation is official recognition that Muskoka Landing is guided by internationally recognized service standards and best practices in healthcare.

Here is what the survey report from CARF had to say:

  1. Muskoka Landing is a clean, well-maintained modern facility overlooking the lake. There are beautiful murals throughout the organization reflecting local scenes. There is obvious pride taken in the upkeep of the building and grounds.
  2. Management and the staff team are key strengths for the long-term care home. The administraor and director of care have developed a management team culture that is collaborative, person-centred and quality and risk focused.
  3. Muskoka Landing has an active and engaged Resident Council that has input into a number of issues affecting the residents' quality of life. The residents are encouraged to share their talents within the organization in a variety of ways, including leading programs for other residents. Muskoka Landing has a recognition program for residents who make significant contributions to the overall life of the community.
  4. Collaboration and sharing are key strengths of Muskoka Landing. Team members reported feeling supported and also reported that they had access to problem soving, quality improvment, and risk management support throught the Jarlette Health Services corporate collaborative committee structure.
  5. Muskoka Landing has developed strong relationships with external providers such as physiotherapy, dietitians, respiratory services, and contracted environmental services. Of special note is the positive working relationship with the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) with regard to education around best practices.
  6. Muskoka Landing is actively engaged in the wider community, including fundraising for local charities.
  7. Muskoka Landing has a successions planning process that encourages the growth and development of employees at all levels and supports promotion from within.
