Testimonials

Elizabeth Centre Val Caron, ON Attention: Liane Pelissier, resident & Family Services Coordinator

Dear Liane:

It has been approximately two weeks since the passing of Bethy. Just a few thoughts that I would like to share with you, about your wonderful organization. I write to you direct Liane, because you are the lady, other than home area 2 staff, that I spoke with most regularly. Please feel free to share this with anyone you wish, as this letter is for every employee at the Elizabeth Centre.

Beth moved in, in August, 2009, with me, her side-kick trailing along behind, as her continued companion. Since that time, until Beth’s passing, I am honoured to say I witnessed the absolute best in your caring, genuine staff, along with a tremendously clean and well maintained long term care home.

In the last eight months, everyone, from upper management, to daily nursing/PSW staff, to maintenance staff, activities, physio and kitchen, have all left endearing and fond memories, in my heart. I feel confident in sharing these thoughts, as I witnessed your wonderful environment, every day, five days a week, and not once was there a need to complain or even be concerned re Beth’s health care and emotional well being. Also, I worked every holiday with Beth, and noticed your standards remained the same, at a time when most organizations sometimes “slack off” – not so with Elizabeth Centre.

Each and every one of you made me feel so welcomed – a stranger in your midst, not family, just someone coming in and out to spend time with one of your residents. When I brought Beth to breakfast / lunch, always was I offered a coffee (which I sometimes desperately needed) and always was I treated with respect, from each and every member of your home area 2 team.

Beth never did recover from her flu, and hence forth spent approximately three weeks in bed, with some brief movements to her chair, when staff deemed plausible. What a testament to your girls – Beth had not one sore, she always smelled fresh, hair always combed and done, along with nails, and her room always in excellent condition. Remarkable care.

Olive McQueen was truly a God send – in more ways than anyone will ever know. There were occasions when I needed to speak to her, one on one, and she took the time to do so. Her support, especially toward the end, was immeasurable and so much needed. On the day of Beth’s passing, Angela and her girls were patient, kind, attentive and within a breath away, not only for Beth, but also for me – as always has been since the beginning.

Our dear friend is now gone and I believe she was well prepared and know she suffered little, if at all. As I continue on my daily journey, Elizabeth Centre will always be spoken of with much praise, respect and honour, upon my lips and in my heart. Take good care of one another, for as we all know, we only have today

God Bless

Linda Belanger
